Passover is a time for family, tradition, and reflection. But for our app development team, it was also an opportunity to continue our work on improving our app. During the holiday break, we performed numerous user tests and collaborated with one of our mentors, Hezi, to refine the app's design. In addition, we continued developing and coding, focusing on the home page of the app.
User Testing:
During the Passover vacation, we conducted several rounds of user testing with diabetics, but also our friends and families. We asked them to perform specific tasks and provide feedback on their experience. We discovered that while some users had an easier time exploring through the app, others found certain parts of the it confusing. This feedback allowed us to make critical changes to the app's interface and workflow, making it more intuitive and user-friendly.
App Design:
In addition to user testing, we met with our mentor, Hezi, to refine the app's design. We discussed the user feedback we received during testing and brainstormed new design ideas. Hezi came up with new clever ideas for the design in particular and for the app in general - ideas that were later incorporated in the next iteration of user testing.
Developing:
Roee, our developer, was responsible for coding the home page of the app. He spent several days brainstorming ideas and sketching out the layout before he started the actual coding process. He used Java and Android Studio to create a primary prototype of the home page, and combined Node.JS and MongoDB to create a simple back-end server for the app. Once all was complete, Roee conducted several tests to ensure that it functioned correctly and that the user experience was optimal.
